After listening to Mr. Collins go on and on about how lovely Lady Catherine is I expected her to live up to what he said, but she did not. I was furious after hearing about what she said about me! I clearly got the wrong impression of her. It turns out she believes I am a failure as a mother. I failed to hire a governess to teach my daughters how to act as ladies and to teach them how to play the piano. Who is she to judge? I did not hire a governess because I am enough of a lady to be able to teach my daughters how to act as proper ladies! She would only need one because clearly she is not enough of a lady to complete the task properly! I am shocked that she would say such a thing and I believe I did a rather good job of raising my daughters.
A new man has been thrown into the mix for Miss Elizabeth. What is that now, three men? His name is Mr. Wickham and he is an official of the army unit. I am not sure how I feel about this either, a lot of confused feelings present at the moment! I am not that informed as to who he is, what kind of man he is, and everything else I would need to know to form an accurate opinion of him. One thing I do know though is that he has little money therefore little status. If she were to pursue him it would be another embarrassment to the family due to her actions. She cannot do that to us again!
Elizabeth has just promised Charlotte that she would pay her a visit at her new home with her husband, Mr. Collins. I am not sure how I feel about this, after all Mr. Collins did propose to Elizabeth first!
Sadness has overcome the household, it is almost unbearable. I am still angry at Elizabeth for turning down Mr. Collins’ offer. Never in my life have I ever been this embarrassed! Elizabeth has seemed a little blue as well, I am not sure why though. I will definitely have to figure that out though, without letting my guard down of course. Finally, Jane is rather upset as well over the Bingley drama. Caroline Bingley wrote a letter saying not only is Bingley not returning for some time, but he seems to be quite taken with another girl. It was said to be Mr. Darcy’s sister, Georgiana. This made her feel even worse because her marriage to Mr. Bingley seems to be a hopeless cause at this moment. I feel so bad for my poor Jane. How could a beautiful girl like her have this many problems plus a load of stress! Life should be easy for a pretty girl like her! All I know is that I am wiped out from scouring for husbands, but nothing will stop me! I am going to continue on this mission, and luckily for me and Jane, Jane will be staying with my brother, Mr. Gardiner. This will give me a bit of a break from her and it could benefit Jane in one of two ways. Either, she will completely clear her mind from the situation at hand with Mr. Bingley, or she will be able to meet with him again. Hopefully, if they meet he realizes she is truly the girl for him! But, if she is unable to see Mr. Bingley maybe she will meet another man whom she will come to fancy. It should not be hard for her, after all she is my prettiest daughter!
